The application deadline for Norfolk Village Games is fast approaching – Thursday 19th August 2010 to be precise.

The Village Games programme is funded by over half a million pounds of lottery money from Sport England, designed to get communities active. A whole variety of sports are covered and entry registration is entirely free.

You can read more about the forthcoming programme and how to enter your community here, on the Norfolk Village Games website.

The on-line expression of interest form can be found here.

By the by, Garboldisham have just launched a new women’s cricket club – could we do the same?

Cycle picture - Tour of BritainThis year West Norfolk will be awash with people on bikes.

117 miles of the county’s roads will be used for the Tour of Britain Cycle Race. The teams will be heading across the county, starting at the Tuesday Market Place in Kings Lynn, on the Thursday 16th September, 2010.

The race will take place between Kings Lynn and Great Yarmouth, so there will be plenty of safe places to view the contestants.

You can find more about the race on the Kings Lynn Borough Council web pages or at the web site of the Tour of Britain.

You can even volunteer with the Tour of Britain Team to help in Stage 6, through Norfolk. You can find the online application form for volunteers here. (You get a Tour goody bag too!)
